Katie and Gunner’s puppies are home!

The Charlie Bear Crunch treats are found online or at Trader Joe’s. The pumpkin powder is on Amazon.

Katie’s puppies left today and it was fun to meet everyone and to see the loving people that each pup is going home to.  Some have waited a long time for their pup and they’re ready!  Here’s a couple final pictures to show the supplies we like to have on hand for our dogs-puppies.  The ear cleaner helps for the occasional ear infections (hard to keep floppy ears dry) and the supplements and pumpkin powder might save us visits to the vet.

Kiddie scissors for trimming eyes and a combing rake to get mats out when that happens.

We’re thankful to all of the families that trusted us with their next family member and we know they’ll do a great job. Because of their support and their adoption, we were able to contribute $2,400.00 to Amazima Ministries so that a bunch of kids in Uganda can learn, eat, and simply LIVE. Our puppies will be bringing joy for years to come, not just here in the U.S., but across the world.  Thank you everyone!  xo   Here are some of the pictures we have so far……

June 10, 2019 – Today is puppy selection day! Busy day, with photos, and two hours at the vet for shots, microchipping, and getting nails trimmed.  All of the pups had a great report from the doctor and now we want to post today’s pictures and weights, and tell you just a little bit about personalities.  All pups are seeming very confident, very connected and bonded with humans, and right where we want them to be at this age.  The personalities are just starting to form at seven to eight weeks old, so it’s the temperament we have focused on and the rest will develop as they are with their forever families. Their personalities and energy levels will form out of the energy level of their new environment and the personality and training styles of their new pack leaders.  We want them to continue to grow in confidence as they are so solid right now with having met about 100 unique people of all ages, experienced about all we can possibly introduce them to in our home with various sights and sounds. And now they’re ready to come home.   Here they are at almost eight weeks old.  We are already feeling a little sad.

A little more added info of a few things that have stood out……  Abby and Prairie Dawn are probably the most independent. Not sure if it’s more confidence developed first ahead of the others or just more adventurous. Abby was the first to separate from the pack and venture into the crate on her own or lay outside of the pack. Prairie Dawn was always last to want to come back inside when they got to romp around the yard and she was always the one taking off and exploring.

Ernie just wants to be loved and snuggled all day long (they all do really!).  Ernie will just sit and stare intently until you pick him up. Bert is always more interested in people at play time and would often find the humans while the others are busy playing. Grover is also intense about his humans and will wait and wait for some love and attention, and he will become vocal to tell us he is waiting. Grover is one that is not liking the crate (at all) but we are continuing to work on that. They all are developing at different stages (as they always do) and he’d just rather be in someone’s lap than in a crate.

We’ve talked, and nobody has a favorite. Too hard to choose!  We all agree, every pup seems to mellow and well adjusted. A great litter!

May 29, 2019 – Katie and Gunner’s pups are turning six weeks old tomorrow. The time is going fast! They are doing so well and we are pleased with their temperaments. They are gaining in confidence daily and soon we’ll begin the final conditioning steps to start preparing them for their final time with us. Right now, they’re very comfortable and confident with humans, new experiences, loud noises and baths. They love to romp around the yard with mama, Katie! (Hopefully, you’ve seen the Instagram video footage.)  Their coats are starting to fill in more and they are eating kibble almost entirely now as Katie is starting the natural process of separating from her babies. We took some pictures of them …. here’s our Sesame Street Litter about to turn six weeks old.

May 17, 2019 – Katie’s puppies are really plump! This is always good. You can’t really see that in the picture, but they are well fed. Katie may just win the award for the most attentive mama. She is so loving and nurturing, aware of her babies every minute, and it shows. The pups are starting to get teeth and so soon they’ll be eating kibble. They are much more interactive now, playing with each other and very aware of the humans around them. They make eye contact, come over and are use the litter box like champs! They are well into their sound desensitization, and they don’t startle at clanging noises. All good. It’s a quiet litter, pretty calm it seems most of the day. Here they are at four weeks old, still in the loving care of Katie’s guardian family, watching over them with Katie, round the clock. Soon, they’ll join us here for more preparation for their forever families. Time is going fast!

May 9, 2019 – Katie’s puppies are turning three weeks old and continue to thrive!  Katie and Katie’s guardian family are the best! The pups are gaining weight daily and you can see by their pictures how healthy they look.Their eyes are open and they are much more alert. They are done with the Bio-sensor program steps. Still not very active, still without teeth, but things are about to change soon. They haven’t shown signs that they can hear yet, but we’ve already started with loud noises and some desensitization of sound, just in case. They have been introduced to the litter box this week, and are not consistent (they’re very young still) but are starting to find their way to it and use it. We have a crate in their pen so that they can start getting used to the feel of being enclosed. Next, they’ll be ready for toys and more sounds and emotional conditioning. We took some fun group pictures so you can see how cute they are becoming at three weeks old. We’ll post more individual photos of them at four weeks old so you can clearly see who is who.  🙂

May 1, 2019 – Katie’s litter is doing very well. They are nice and plump! They’ve gained a lot of weight and all of the pups are healthy.  Katie is an excellent mama! They are two weeks old as of tomorrow and they are all starting to open their eyes now. Things will start changing soon. The litter is still with Katie at home with Katie’s guardian family. They are doing a great job with the pups, as always. They’ve been working on the Bio-sensor program daily and the pups are getting lots of holding and massaging time. This is important because it’s our only real human connection with them before they can see or hear. They are already very used to human hands. They are relaxed and calm when picked up. Here’s what they look like, close to two weeks old.

April 19, 2019 – Katie delivered her first puppy yesterday at around 11 am and the puppies continued to arrive throughout the day, ending last night with a count of eight healthy pups!  Katie and Gunner did it again, with a great litter. (This is Katie’s second litter.) The final count last night is five boys and three girls.  The colors can continue to lighten and darken over the upcoming days. We’re happy

Happy Katie, over half way through labor. A proud mama for sure!

with their weights and it was an uneventful delivery. Always thankful for great (daytime-yes!) deliveries. Katie is comfortably at home with her family, our experienced, wonderful guardians that care for her. She’ll stay there with the litter for several weeks as they do the Bio-Sensor program, along with lots of massaging and holding, and then the remaining weeks will be more conditioning, desensitization and socialization as they finish up at our house to get ready to come home to their forever families. Last year Katie and Gunner produced the nicest litter, with great genetics, coats and temperaments. Katie and Gunner did it again! We welcome to our world the Sesame Street Litter: Grover, Elmo, Ernie, Bert, Oscar, Abby, Zoe and Prairie Dawn.
